Join us in marching from the Ventura County Government Building (Meet in front of Parking Lot F) to the DOGGR(Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources) office to deliver a notice of eviction, since DOGGR has failed to do their job of protecting us. There are 23 illegal injection wells that they continue to allow, dumping oil field waste into our protected aquifers here in Ventura County.
Its time to take action. We're facing a crucial moment in the movement to turn away from extreme extraction and toward clean energy. Every time we’ve confronted Governor Jerry Brown about halting fracking over the past few years, he’s insisted that we wait until the release of an independent scientific report. Well on July 9, the report came out, and not surprisingly it rang scores of alarm bells about the dangers extreme energy poses to our air, water, geological security, and public health. It’s now clear that lives are at risk if we don’t stop these dangerous practices immediately. And the power to do that is in Jerry Brown’s hands.
It’s urgent that Governor Brown hear the voices of the millions of Californians who want an end to extreme extraction, and a clearer pathway to 100% renewable energy. So that’s why we’re gathering in our communities all over the state on August 1 to speak out for Clean Not Extreme energy.
This statewide distributed day of action will involve 15 or more distinct actions, each molded to suit the local communities in which it is held. Everyday people will assemble in front of rivers and reservoirs, town squares and schools, to implore Governor Brown to finally do the right thing and ban extreme extraction and put California on the path to 100% clean energy.
